A Body of Work

15 Nov

Never has anything so consumed, so overwhelmed, so befuddled like the human appearance. It is a simultaneous source of bliss and despair.

Perhaps it is our society? I can’t say I know, but I can say I have my opinions.

Adriana Lima Defends her Victoria’s Secret Diet

So, the bombshell model apparently goes on a hardcore diet and exercise regimen before the big show. Why this is shocking, I haven’t quite figured out. She has nutritionists and trainers monitoring her every move, much like a training athlete. I mean yes, it is odd to eat only liquid food for 2 weeks but I can surmise she doesn’t do this everyday of her life. Is it not odd that athletes consume thousands of calories to gain weight? Nobody seems to care much then. I wouldn’t normally be so passive about extreme eating, but it seems to me Adriana lives a healthy lifestyle. She has experts monitoring it all, something us normal folk don’t have.  Obviously, average people couldn’t subscribe to this kind of lifestyle. But average people are also not strutting down a glitter-covered catwalk in underwear and giant ten pound wings.

Disney Stars Are Not Fat

Well….duh.  Miley Cyrus took to her Twitter to “blast” critics for calling her fat.  Miley Cyrus clearly has never been “fat” a day in her life.  Demi Lovato answered back on her Twitter applauding Cyrus’ Tweet. Demi has famously been recovering from an eating disorder for the last few months. Many have called her big and fat. I would know, recovering from an eating disorder is hard and even harder when you feel your body is ballooning out of control (although it isn’t). When you first begin recovery, your body tends to gain more than it needs because, well it doesn’t know when you are going to haul off and starve half to death again. You feel majorly uncomfortable. But eventually, it balances out. It would be unbelievably hard to do in front of the whole world. So….major props to Demi for doing so.

And Yes… You can Bleach Your Teeth Too Much

Bleach-orexia. Making me wonder when having snow white teeth became “normal.”

Models Not To Blame For Child-Hood Eating Problems
